Seating in the Sierra 1500 ranges from three occupants in the Regular Cab to six in the Crew and Double Cabs. Performance of the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500
Drivers have three powertrain options to go under the hood of their truck. The first is a 285-horsepower V6 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. An eight-speed automatic is also available, as are two muscular V8 engines. The first V8 delivers 355 horsepower and increases the Sierra 1500’s work capabilities. If you opt for the brawny 420-horsepower V8, you can expect up to 460 pound-feet of torque, and you can also switch it to a 4-cylinder function to boost fuel economy when the work is over. When fully equipped, the Sierra 1500 can tow a maximum of 12,500 pounds and haul 2,250 pounds. The truck’s tow/haul mode handles gear shifting during heavy-payload situations, allowing you to focus on the task at hand without being distracted by manual shifting duties. Overall handling is responsive, and the brakes hold up even with substantial force behind them. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
