The front desk staff were helpful and kept me informed. It’s the service department I always have issues with, especially when it comes to rotating my tires. My wife was traveling from tx to la and encountered a flat tire on our 2024 denali pu. I contacted the dealer to make sure we had tire coverage, we do. My wife arrived and they took the truck back and came back out 2hrs later and said they did not have a tire. Please explain how it takes two hrs to realize that you do not have a tire. Extremely dissatisfied.

Had a terrible experience with service department. Poor communication. Received texts with update on vehicle being “ready” after 3 hours, however the vehicle was not even touched yet even with a scheduled appt. 5.5 hours later, after waiting in lounge. No one checked on me. Was told service department thought I left. And all of this experience for a brand new purchased vehicle from this dealership—check engine light turned on after 3 days of purchase. Manager tried to accommodate by coming pick up my vehicle from my workplace 35 minutes away the following day. Although I appreciate the attempt to fix the issue, I was left with an empty tank of gas and a dirty vehicle, and already missed two days of work/pay for this whole engine light problem. Won’t be using this service department again. Unfortunate since I had a great experience when actually buying the vehicle.

We brought in a GMC canyon that is less than 2 years old because the engine light came on along with the vehicle breaking on its own with a message saying “reduced acceleration. Drive with care.” We received a call on Thursday that it was ready and being told that it had been driven and nothing was showing up. We picked it up Friday and Friday evening, it did the exact same thing, breaking on its own, with the engine light coming back on. As of Sunday, the light is still on. So very disappointed that as a service department, there is not a better way to determine what is going on with this vehicle that we now have little confidence in.

I had an amazing experience purchasing my truck from Barker GMC! Before I even walked in, I spoke with Terri over the phone—she was super friendly and made me feel at ease. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by several staff members, and Terri quickly found a salesperson for me. Since no one was available in the new vehicle building, she called next door, and Hank came right over. Hank was fantastic! He made the whole process smooth and pressure-free. After a long day at work, he even pulled the truck up front so I didn’t have to walk far. He answered all my questions and made sure I was completely comfortable. He worked his magic and got me into an even nicer truck than I expected! Although I had to wait until the next day to pick it up due to a final inspection, Hank stayed in touch and made sure I was updated every step of the way. When I came back, he walked me through everything in the truck before I drove off. This was by far the best car-buying experience I’ve had—quick, easy, and stress-free. I’ve always bought from another dealership in town, but after this, I’ll definitely be sticking with Barker GMC!

However, I wasn't pleased with the cleanliness of my vehicle after further inspection (I picked my truck at night) and the seats had spots on it. And the bed of the truck was dirty. My DEF tank wasn't filled up all the way. (I had to bring my truck in the next day for it to be filled up) I also am waiting to receive the spare key which had to be reordered because they ordered the wrong key the first time. So, I'll have to go back to the dealership again for the key to be programmed.

Brought my car in for an alignment b/c 2 weeks earlier I got an oil change and tire rotation and the car just wasn’t driving right. They put the car on the rack and noticed the front driver tire was off so they fixed it but said it didn’t need an alignment…but I still had to pay the full amount of an alignment. Made no sense to me that I needed to pay full price for an alignment that I didn’t get.

The positive aspects were that the staff was pleasant in my interactions with them. There were 2 negatives experiences that stand out. The first one, it seems as though I wasn't being understood or that there was misinformation / miscommunication. When Kali called my phone and we talked for a bit, I mentioned that according to the inventory on the stock online, the exact car that I was looking at wasn't available at that location. She called back and said that a single car was available that did match the description I was looking for. Eventually, the manager revealed that the car that was said to match the type of car I wanted, was not the same exact model I initially inquired about and the car that was suggested was a bit more expensive than the car I initially wanted. Also, there was poor communication and delays regarding the car being delivered to me, as it was supposed to be dropped off at 9:30 am. I ended up getting my dad to bring me to pick up the car about a half hour after it was scheduled to be delivered.

Barker GMC scheduled my service appointment a week out from request due to shop load. Delivered vehicle at 1:00 on Wednesday as scheduled to determine why it was showing codes. Was not told when they planned to diagnose the issue, but I expected it that day. Called just before closing and was told they did not get to look at it that day. Called back Thursday afternoon and it was still not looked at, but I was #2 in line and they may could look at it before closing, but would call me back to let me know. As I received no call back, I called again on Friday morning to be told that I was #6 in line for it to be looked at. When questioning how I dropped from 2 to 6 I was told that since I did not purchase my vehicle there, if any others who did buy from the dealership requested service before mine was being diagnosed, they would be given priority. I asked why I was not told this when scheduling or dropping off the vehicle and was told it is just Barker GMC's policy. I was able to speak to one of the ownership group and asked to see that policy. He stated that it was not written down, but if I had bought the truck there it would have been told to me. I did not purchase from Barker because their prices were not competitive, but have had my 3 GMC vehicles serviced there due to their proximity. During this conversation, I was advised that they were starting to test my vehicle. So basically it was 2 business days after my scheduled drop off time that my truck was diagnosed. Later that afternoon I was told a part was needed and it would be in the following morning, which it was allowing them to service and release my truck by noon on Saturday. In summary, they do good work, but if you did not purchase the vehicle from the Barker group, do not expect the same level of service as someone who did.

Vehicle wouldn’t start Saturday night, Called roadside assistance Sunday morning. They picked up vehicle within 45 minutes. Called dealership Monday morning and was told that it probably woebegone looked at until Tuesday. I asked for substitute transportation since I also have a LDS service contract. I was told they had no substitute transportation available, but could put me on the list, not try and find me a rental car. Told me he would call me Tuesday morning to let me know when they could diagnose it. Tuesday afternoon I was called and told it was a fuel injection module but he couldn’t change it until Wednesday morning. I was called Wednesday around 10 am and was told it was ready. I had contacted LDS Monday after my conversation with the dealership and they told me it was probably the fuel module which is a 15 minutes fix.

I have brought the last 3 or 4 vehicles on the phone after doing thorough research. I really don't like the idea of spending an entire day negotiating. I was so very pleasantly surprised. It was a quick and wonderful experience. We already knew the vehicle we wanted. I told him what I was interested in regarding all rebates and financing option. He went to finance manager. He came back and was very surprised on the first round it was near what I was willing to pay. My trade in was where i wanted it to be being very fair to myself and the dealership. I know they have to make money also. He went back when i suggested he do a tad bit better. They worked on my trade a bit more and we had a deal. Within a half hour, deal was made. . It took my buying a new vehicle to another level and one of confidence in the dealership. I hope the service is just as well as we will be servicing our new vehicle there. My husband is a GMC man and thanks to Barker GMC for such a great experience.

The salesman Hank was amazing and very patient as I was looking at 2 vehicles to see which was the best fit. Once my decision was made Hank made the process very light and easy. It wasnt until I got into the finance office and told the finance guy Chris that I was not looking to purchase any other additional services. Chris began asking me questions as to why I did not want any of the other packages to which I explained to him that I never purchase these packages with any of my vehicles. Chris then asked me who was I purchasing the vehicle for. I stated it was for myself. He then left the eoom and came back with the salesman Hank and asked me again who was I purchasing the vehicle for because he was not going ro allow me to make the purchase. This was the most disrespectful experience I have ever been a part amd very unprofessional all because I did not want to purchase additional service add ons. I explained again that the vehicle was for me. I had a friend and my son along with me heloing me to pick out the vehicle and my friend and son then left the dealership. Chris was not part of the sales process to make any assumptions of who the vehicle was for which made me very eerie with purchasing from the dealership. Chris finally stated that he would proceed with the purchase. When talking about finance options Chris showed one price on paper and just assumes that I would be going with 82 months which was not what I wanted. He showed me his computer screen which had completely different month note pricing. When I asked him why was the monthly note higher on paper than on the computer he stated that it was for paint and trim or aomething aimilar that he forgot to add on. I expressed that I did not want those additional features. Chris explained that he could not take it off which I explained that this was not teue being that he had to manually go in and add the feature because it was originally taken off to begin with. I had to go back to the sales manager to get the pricing right feom there. I will NOT return back to this dealership and will purchase in New Orleans for any of my other needs or other Buick purchases amd due to Chris the finance guy being so unprofessional.

Service staff was very friendly and helpful. I appreciated my service provider Chantel. A little disappointed that it took almost two and a half weeks to repair my AC mostly because we waited on parts and had to take my vehicle in twice for the eventual repair. In the interior of my vehicle on both occasions they left debris/trash from the work the performed which in my opinion should have been removed and thrown away. I really appreciated the quality loaner vehicle as well. Overall, I am not disgruntled and mostly satisfied with the services provided however there is opportunity for improvement. Again, thank you for the loaner and enjoyed working with Chantel to get my vehicle repaired. So far, so good.

I brought my truck in for the oil change and crankcase inspection recall. Everything was okay and the heavier viscosity oil was added. I was unaware that a service upgrade was pending for the ECM which was also done. I had not reviewed the ticket upon receiving my vehicle but did immediately notice the performance difference when leaving the dealership. I realized after reading the service ticket why the vehicle seemed to be running so much better. Thumbs up to the Barker Service group.

I went in to get a tire replaced/fixed for my vehicle on Friday 5th which was under warranty. Appointment was at 2:30 and when I left at 3:45 I was told they would order me a tired because they did not have one to replace in stock. It will take about 2 days for tire to arrive, so I left in a donut I arrived with. I was told I would get. Call when tire arrived and today is the 13th and still have not been reached out to about my tire.

Due to a shortage of techs in the service department, I waited 90 minutes for an oil change appointment that didn’t happen. I offered to wait another hour and was told that it would be impossible to have my vehicle ready by then. I chose to take my vehicle since I had to pick up my granddaughter in Thibodaux. After speaking with the John the service manager he said that if anything changed that he would call me and get the oil changed. He did call and had me return about an hour later. The service was done quickly. I realize that it’s difficult to find qualified labor especially those with a positive work ethic.

Communication can be improved. I dropped my truck off Sunday night for a Monday morning appointment. I received 1 phone call Monday evening around 4 that my truck was not ready and needed the body shop. I called and texted Tuesday but no responses. I was notified on Wednesday that my truck needed the body shop and Gay couldn’t say when it would be ready. No estimate of time. She said she couldn’t tell me. After several calls my truck was scheduled to be ready on Thursday. The timeframe is not the issue the lack of communication is the problem.
